The FFB-Atlanta Chapter is hosting a free session entitled "Dealing with Low Vision in the Workplace". Join us for a panel discussion of resources and solutions available to deal with issues at work or in seeking employment. Our panel will consist of:

  • William Miles, Labor & Employment Attorney with Seyfarth Shaw LLP, will give a short summary of the ADA laws, share his perspective on how employers he represents look at dealing with issues with employees with disabilities and general advice he has learned from various cases.

  • Rasheeda Wilkins is the Vocational Specialist at the Center for the Visually Impaired and will discuss the various services that CVI provides and her role in assisting visually impaired clients seeking or transitioning their careers.

  • John Rempel, Assistive Technology Specialist for the Center for the Visually Impaired will address the needs of the low vision population as it pertains to accessing both hard copy and electronic materials in the workplace. He will generalize about available hardware & software technology that can provide a means for clients to become more productive or remain productive at the workplace.

  • Shirley Robinson is the Rehabilitation Counselor at the Georgia Department of Labor and will discuss the services that the DOL offers, eligibility requirements and her role there.

  •

Each panelist will give us a 10-15 minute overview and we will open up the meeting to questions and answers for 45 minutes. This meeting will be recorded, so those of you that cannot attend may request a copy. There will also be an update at the end of the meeting by our Atlanta Chapter President Jack Wilson on developments in research and the upcoming symposium in March.
